GAP YEAR AND COMMUNITY SERVICE On Wednesday, January 22nd from 7:00 - 8:30 pm a panel of current, and past year participants, as well as facilitators of gap year/community service programs will explain the available options. Sponsored by the BHS PTO, this meeting is open to students and parents. In the MLK room.
GAP YEAR/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FAIR this event will take place on Thursday, January 23rd during X-block, in the MLK room. All students are encouraged to attend! Meet representatives from Gap Year programs as well as representatives who can help all students find local volunteer programs.
BROOKLINE CAMBODIA PARTNERSHIP luncheon at The Elephant Walk! January 25, 2014 @ 12pm - 2:45pm. All proceeds help enable a life changing trip to Cambodia for BHS students and teachers, and help support our education development efforts in Cambodia. BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL The BHS varsity basketball team will be playing in the Boston Garden on Saturday, 1/25 at 4pm vs. Andover, as part of the Good Sports HS Invitational. Tickets and more information here.

CELEBRITY SERIES - TAKE YOUR SEAT The Celebrity Series developed "Take Your Seat" to make performance tickets available to school and community groups at the significantly reduced price of $10 per ticket. Tickets are limited, and may sell out, you must order by February 1. More information here or contact Margaret Sablove.
FRESHMAN PARENT GUIDANCE NIGHT FEB 5 All freshman parents should join Guidance Chair Lenny Libenzon to learn about course selection for next year. This may seem early for freshman parents, but course selections begin in early spring and changes cannot be made after May 1 . Please make every effort to attend. The meeting is in the Black Box Theater on the second floor of the main building, on Wednesday February 5 from 7pm-8:30pm. Please contact Lenny Libenzon or Freshman PTO Reps

SIGN UP FOR SWS (School Within A School). Interested students should drop by the SWS office, room 400, to sign up for the SWS Lottery, pick up an information packet and ask any questions they may have about the process. The SWS Lottery sign-up is open until February 28, 2014.
STEPS TO SUCCESS in partnership with the Public Schools of Brookline, the Brookline Housing Authority and the Brookline Community Foundation, supports students residing in low income housing starting in the 4th grade through post graduate education. TEEN SUMMER PROGRAM EXPO at Newton South High School. Monday, February 3, from 5:30 PM to 8:00PM, in the cafeteria at 140 Brandeis Road, Newton. Parents and kids can find the perfect summer experience by talking to directors of many varied summer programs in the U.S. & abroad.
"WONDERS OF THE NIGHT SKY" on January 28th at the Brookline Public Library, Main Branch, 361 Washington Street, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in Hunneman Hall, 2nd. floor. This slide talk showcases exquisite photos and film clips from the Hubble and other large telescopes shown on the library's large screen with an inspiring storytelling narrative. The talk is presented by Bob Kroin and sponsored by the Trustees of the Brookline Public Library. Free and open to the public. Recommended for adults and students in grades 7-12.
