Brookline High School - This Week
BHS TECH SURVEY Parents/guardians are encouraged to help BHS by taking a survey on educational technology.  The 11th annual Speak Up National Research Project is a survey that the Brookline community participates in, in order to get feedback and data on our use of technology in education.  In February 2014, BHS will get back all of our district and school data with state and national comparisons for benchmarking to use for grant writing, ed tech plans, budgets, professional development and community engagement. Online surveys will be open for input through Dec. 20th, 2013.  Learn more @ www.tomorrow.org/speakup  Please take the 20-minute survey at: www.speakup4schools.org/speakup2013

HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE The Food Justice club will conduct its holiday food drive on Tuesday, December 17th. Freshman are asked to drop off non perishable items for the Brookline food pantry, during advisory. The food pantry is in need of toiletries and  canned goods, specifically  oils, tuna fish, instant coffee and soups. The homeroom that donates the most items will win a food party.

A SUCCESSFUL DEPLOYMENT OF PTO FUNDED CHROMEBOOKS! Jennifer Martin and Brendan Kobus received a PTO grant to purchase Chromebooks for their history class. Jennifer Martin reports: "The results are astounding! Our students are showing huge leaps in their tech literacy...Yesterday, our entire junior class worked on one Google Doc evaluating (in real time) student thesis statements...In our classes, the student binder is actually an online Google folder that can never be lost. Students also enjoy access to their teacher's online Google folder to reference when they are absent or may have missed notes in class." Please donate to the PTO NOW so we can continue making grants such as these.
