FOPA MEETING Monday, December 9th at 7:00pm in the faculty lounge - adjacent to the MLK room.
PTO SWS INFORMATIONAL NIGHT Tuesday, December 10th from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm, in the SWS space, on the 4th floor. This meeting is for parents of students who are interested in School Within a School. Dan Bresman, the SWS coordinator, will present. For more information about SWS, visit their website.
PTO STANDARDIZED TESTING INFORMATIONAL NIGHT Wednesday, December 11, at 7 pm, in the Auditorium. The Kaplan Test Company representative Sherry Brass will talk about different tests (including SAT and ACT) and testing timelines. This meeting is open to Sophomore and Junior Parents.
BHS SPECIAL EDUCATION BI-MONTHLY MEETING All parents & guardians of students with an IEP are invited to attend the BHS Special Education Bi-Monthly Meeting on December 12, 2013. We will meet in the MLK Room 7:45 - 8:45 PM. These Bi-monthly meetings provide an opportunity for parents and guardians to meet the Special Education administrators at BHS, get updates, ask questions and stay informed about al that is happening with Special Education at the High School. TROUBLEMAKER: THE FRESHMAN PLAY Wednesday, December 11 @ 3:30pm, Thursday, Dec. 12 & Friday, December 13 @ 7:30pm, Dec. 14 @ 3:30pm & 7:30pm in the Black Box Theater. Troublemaker, or, The Freaking Kick-A Adventures of Bradley Boatright is directed by Summer Williams. Bradley Boatright thwarts single dads who want to date his mom, defeats a diabolical video game mastermind, outwits an evil Superintendent, and plans his escape to the wilds of Business-Class Rhode Island. But the world Bradley sees may not quite be the same as the one in which he lives. Prepare to embark on a fast-paced epic adventure full of drama, danger and kicking A. The BHS Drama Society writes: "this zany, comic book stylized show promises to be super fun for everybody involved!"

Brookline High School - Upcoming/Ongoing

WINTER CONCERT Thursday, December 19 at 7:30pm in the Roberts/Dubbs Auditorium. Brookline High School's annual Winter Concert is the single best introduction to the wealth of music going on at BHS, and it's one of the liveliest concerts of the year to boot. Jazz Band, Orchestra, Camerata, Concert Choir, A Cappella Choir, Concert Band - this one has it all! It's a fabulous showcase for Brookline High School's top musical ensembles. Don't miss this rousing musical extravaganza by more than 200 of BHS' finest. This accessible and inexpensive family evening also offers Brookline's elementary students an inspiring glimpse of what they have to look forward to at BHS Tickets $5. (Admission free to Elementary Students).
AUDITIONS FOR REVISIONS 2014 the January BHS student variety show, will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18 and Thursday, Dec. 19, in Dance studio one, beginning at 3 pm. Please sign up for a time on the Dance bulletin board in the Tappan Street gym. Dancers, actors, singers, acoustic musicians, comedians, dog acts, and jugglers are welcome.
THE BROOKLINE LITERACY PROJECT This tutoring program transports high school students once a week to BHS partner school, the Mather Elementary School, in Dorchester. The group is also involved in fundraising and hosts a world music concert near the end of the year. If your child is interested, the group meets in Room 346 on Thursdays, after school (snacks provided)! This is an opportunity to earn community service credit.
BHS INTRAMURALS Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays 3:00-4:30. Soccer in the Pavilion with Mr. Epstein. Basketball in Gym 1 with Ms. Toney. Fitness Center with Ms. Sutton.
BHS 2020 PRESENTATION In September, Headmaster Deborah Holman presented the BHS 2020 vision at parent meetings. We will begin to reap the benefits of the faculty innovation and work on this vision in the months ahead. If you missed the presentation and would like to see it, go to the Headmaster's blog page.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS The Brookline Youth Fund, a part of the Brookline Community Foundation, is now requesting proposals for grants.
The Brookline Youth Fund seeks to promote activities that are inclusive and represent diversity within the town, with a focus on youth whose families earn less than the town's median annual income, or are under served or considered at risk. The submission deadline for proposals is January 17, 2014 and funding decisions will be made by mid March. More information may be found on BCF's website.
