COFFEE WITH FRESHMAN GUIDANCE COUNSELORS 11/21:
On Thursday morning, from 8:00 - 8:30 am, the PTO will host a coffee, in the MLK Room, as an opportunity for freshmen parents to meet their students' guidance counselors. Dean Scott Butchart will also be in attendance. Questions? Contact the Freshman PTO reps at 2017.bhs.pto@gmail.com.
BOYS BASKETBALL Anyone interested in trying out for the team this year, should attend a brief informational meeting on Thursday, November 21st at 10:30 - during X block in room MO4B.
SOPHOMORE CLASS PARENT MEETING on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 7 PM. Special Location: Brookline Teen Center. How to talk and listen to our ever-changing teens - plus a chance to explore the new Teen Center! With Fran Kuehn, BHS Social Worker and Brooke Rosing, Brookline Community Mental Health Center.
IMPROVISED MUSIC FESTIVAL Friday, Nov. 22nd. Concert at 7:30pm in the Roberts/Dubbs Auditorium. Brookline High School's ninth annual Improvised Music Festival is geared toward high school students and the general public. The festival invites musicians who are engaged in creating new paths in music. This year, BHS students join BB&N 's ensemble, closing with a set by alto saxophonist Jim Hobbs and bassist Winston Braman. Tickets $5 at the door. Facebook page

BHS INTRAMURALS Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays 3:00-4:30. Soccer in the Pavilion with Mr. Epstein. Basketball in Gym 1 with Ms. Toney. Fitness Center with Ms. Sutton.
WARRIOR RUN Sunday, December 1, 2013; 9:30 a.m. at Larz Anderson Park. Join the BHS boys and girls cross-country teams as they come together with the Brookline community to run the 5th annual Warrior Run. Participants will run the 2.76 mile varsity cross-country course and help raise money for the Special Olympics and for the teams. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the skating pavilion at Larz Anderson Park. Pre-race registration costs $10, and includes 10 raffle tickets. Race-day registration costs $15. To request the pre-registration form, contact Michael Glennon.
The race will be followed by a raffle, awards, and a bagel breakfast.

BHS 2020 PRESENTATION In September, Headmaster Deborah Holman presented the BHS 2020 vision at parent meetings. We will begin to reap the benefits of the faculty innovation and work on this vision in the months ahead. If you missed the presentation and would like to see it, go to the Headmaster's blog page.

POPULATION AND SPECIAL EDUCATION TASK FORCE OF THE OVERRIDE STUDY COMMITTEE Wednesday, Nov 20 4:00 - 5:30 at Town Hall (Room 408). A committee has been put together to look at ways to save money in order to minimize the effect of an override for the school system. This is the second meeting and special education will be discussed. This is a good opportunity to monitor the school officials and gage their level of support for special education.

BROOKLINE TEEN GRANTMAKERS PROGRAM The Brookline Community Foundation is now recruiting high school students who live or go to school in Brookline to participate in our 2014 Brookline Teen Grantmakers program. This program, which runs from mid January to early June, provides an hands on learning experience that teaches teens about philanthropy and the fundamentals of grantmaking. Participants will learn more about their community, explore their personal values, and work together to address issues in Brookline through strategic grantmaking. The application deadline is December 2, 2013. The application process will also include a brief, in-person interview.
