INFORMATION ABOUT FINANCIAL AID On Wednesday, November 6, 7p.m., the annual Financial Aid Information night will be held in the Roberts and Dubbs Auditorium at BHS. An experienced MEFA (Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority) representative will provide an overview of the financial aid process, including types of financial aid, how to apply, and determining financing options for your family. Families are encouraged to download a copy of the PowerPoint Presentation or e-book beforehand at MEFA. This evening is intended for parents of juniors and seniors.
SHAKESPEARE PLAY: "THE WINTER'S TALE" Performances on November 6th at 3:30pm, November 7th, 8th and 9th at 7:30pm, in the Robert/Dubbs Auditorium. Come see Brookline High School's acclaimed group of players perform one of the Bard's lesser known works, full of dramatic intrigue and rollicking humor. Set during the Civil War era, The Winter's Tale tells the story of Leontes, an Army General from the North, who fears that his wife, Hermione, has been unfaithful with Polixenes, a General from the South. This is a tale full of wonder: racial differences and ruined relationships leading to reconciliation and rebirth. BHS students have written and choreographed songs and dances in the production; there is even an "exit pursued by a bear!". The show is suitable for older children (ages 7th grade and up). Admission is $10, Students $5 (8th Graders FREE). Tickets may be purchased at the door.

Brookline High School - Upcoming/Ongoing

BHS 2020 PRESENTATION In September, Headmaster Deborah Holman presented the BHS 2020 vision at parent meetings. We will begin to reap the benefits of the faculty innovation and work on this vision in the months ahead. If you missed the presentation and would like to see it, go to the Headmaster's blog page.
NEWS FROM B-CASA The most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control show that roughly 100 people die every day from drug overdoses in America. More than 22,000 of these deaths involved prescription drugs, often pilfered from the family medicine cabinet. This can have especially tragic consequences for today's youth. In Brookline, getting rid of unused prescription drugs is easier and more convenient than ever with kiosks at Public Safety Building and the Police Department. This weekend, as you take time to turn back the clocks, please commit a few minutes to cleaning out your medicine cabinet.
CAMERATA/ORCHESTRA CONCERT November 15th at 7:30pm, Roberts/Dubbs Auditorium. The strings are the thing, as Brookline High School's acclaimed String Orchestra, under the direction of Michael Driscoll and Jorge Soto, perform Edvard Grieg's charming Holberg Suite. BHS Camerata follows with a series of lyrical choral works: Songs by di Lasso and Brahms, and Hebrew Love Songs by Whitacre, accompanied by BHS sting players, followed by "Agnus Dei" of Hayden's Mass in the Time of War. The concert is family friendly. Admission $10, Students $5 at the door (8th Graders FREE!) Tickets may be purchased at the door.
SPEND SATURDAY NIGHT 11/16 OUT WITH FRIENDS Get your friends together for a fun night at the Gala on November 26th. It's the one night a year when BHS parents get together for drinks, delicious food, music and even dancing - all in support of innovation and excellence at the high school. Over the past 15 years, the 21st Century Fund has invested almost $9 million in programs that keep BHS competitive with the very best schools. If you support these efforts, come to the Gala on November 16th and ask your friends to join you. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.bhs21stcenturyfund.org and seating requests can be made by emailing Julia White.
WRITING CENTER HOURS The Writing Center is now open during second lunch. Writing center hours are Monday-Thursday during both lunch periods, as well as before and after school and during X-Block.
