SENIOR PARENT MEETING Wednesday, September 25th, 7pm in the Auditorium. Director of Guidance Lenny Libenzon will provide an overview of the college process and answer questions.
 
COLLEGE ESSAY WORKSHOP NEXT SATURDAY September 28th, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. There is still time to sign up and parent volunteers are still needed. Parents and students may sign up here: website. Whether you have already chosen a topic and started writing or have not yet given the essay a thought, this free workshop is designed to move you to the next step in the process. Led by dedicated BHS English department faculty and supported by parent volunteers, students are grouped with peers who are at a similar stage of writing so that they may receive individual attention and feedback. BHS SOCCER AT KICKS FOR CANCER  Some of the region's best high school soccer talent will gather to compete against each other and fight cancer at the 7th annual Kicks for Cancer competition on Saturday, September 28th at Concord Carlisle High School. The event includes food, raffles, souvenirs, and more, all to benefit cancer research. Event website.
 
SOPHOMORE CLASS PARENT MEETING September 30, 2013, 7 PM in the Black Box Theater. Welcome to Sophomore year! Headmaster Deb Holman, Dean Anthony Meyers and Guidance Department Chair Lenny Libenzon will provide updates on what is happening around BHS and insights into sophomore year expectations.

SCHOOL TRIP TO MEXICO Juniors and Seniors enrolled in Spanish 2 or above, and interested in a school trip to Mexico this academic year, should attend the first informational meeting on September 26th during X block. During this meeting chaperones will go over the eligibility requirements. For more information students may speak with Mr. Méndez, Mr. Calleja or Mrs. Alberola.

INITIAL MEETING - FRIENDS OF PERFORMING ARTS (FoPA)

Monday, October 7th at 7:00 PM in the Staff room, next to the MLK meeting room - 1st floor BHS. FoPA, a committee of interested parents and guardians, the BHS performing arts Teacher Leader, Christien Polos and invited guests, supports the performing arts at Brookline High School. If you have any questions, please contact Co-chairs Genae Johnson and Susan Sturman at  fopa.bhs.pto@gmail.com. We are looking forward to seeing our "old" friends and "new" friends. A special invitation to the new Freshmen Parents who are interested in supporting the performing arts at BHS: please join us! 

VISIT THE NEW BHS WEBSITE The new Brookline High School website provides information about the school and its resources for students and their families. The BHS "Information Booklet 2013-14" which you can access from the front page of the web site, contains information to help with the transition into the high school. The booklet contains calendars, contacts, opening day schedules, information on the cafeteria, transportation, PTO, Sagamore and more. 
 Community Events
SEPAC MEETING On Friday, September 27th, at 8:30 am, the first SEPAC meeting will take place in the School Committee Room, 5th Floor, Town Hall. Assistant Superintendent of Special Education, Karen Shmukler and the 2 new Directors of SpEd Prek-8, Mark Nacht and Emily Frank, as well as the new Out of District Coordinator, Jane Farwell will be there. Following the meeting, at 9:30, we will announce the new liaisons and hold our annual elections. If anyone is interested in getting involved, please come to this meeting. 
 
CELEBRATE VICKI C. MILSTEIN Principal, Brookline Early Education Programs as she receives the 2013 Robert I. Sperber Award for Administrative Leadership on Saturday, September 28th at 5:00pm at BHS. Visit the Brookline Education Foundation website for more information or to RSVP.

AN EVENING WITH DENNIS LEHANE Monday, October 7th, 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the Brookline High School Auditorium. Presented by the Public Library of Brookline.
