MBCA - Toronto Section
Month Day, Year
Greetings!

I am sending this to you as a personal note.

Your Toronto Section is heading into a busy 2013.

Following our recent Annual General Meeting we are very excited to announce that the Toronto Section will be proceeding with two major new events for the club.

First is a driving school & autocross.

This event will be geared toward two distinct groups of Mercedes enthusiasts. For one, the new driver who wants to get some expert advice on how to handle his/her daily car (not necessarily a Mercedes) safely and with confidence. And second, the more seasoned drivers who want to hone his/her driving skills in a more competitive setting, all while under the guidance of experienced driving instructors.

This event is scheduled for May 5th and 6th at the Powerade Center, Mississauga.

A formal announcement will follow in the New Year.

The second event is the hosting of the inaugural Legends of the Autobahn

June 13-16, 2013

This Concours and Drive is in partnership with VARAC (Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada), organizer of the Canadian Historic Grand Prix weekend. We also invited the Trillium BMW Club, and the Upper Canada Porsche Club to join us in the event.

The attraction of a car show that combines the major German car brands is clearly evident in the success of the Concours by the same name that has taken place over the last three years at the Pebble Beach and Monterey Historics weekend.

Our Toronto Section, in conjunction with the Porsche and BMW Clubs, is preparing to run our own Legends of the Autobahn, Concours and Driving Event alongside the 34rd Annual Vintage Racing Festival at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, formerly Mosport International Raceway, on June 13-16.

Participants will have steeply discounted admission to the Canadian Historic Grand Prix, a German Marque Concours, a Navigational Rally, Parade Laps on the Mosport Grand Prix course and various other attractive driving events held that weekend.

These are two large undertaking for our club and as such the request we are making today is that while we have a great core group of devoted supporters and helpers in our Toronto Section, we need additional aide to plan, organize and run these particular events.

Specifically, we are looking for members that are prepared to offer their experience, know-how, and helping hands in these areas:

Before the events:

  • PR work
  • Email & Newsletter editor
  • Media releases
  • Website development and maintenance
  • Sponsor recruitment

During the events:

  • Set up and tear down of our booth and tent
  • Experienced driving instructors
  • Concours judges
  • Administrative tasks
  • Crowd control

In addition to the hands-on help, if you and/or your company would be interested in a preferred sponsoring opportunity or if you could help us find additional sponsors we would be very appreciative.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer any compensation other than free admission and the knowledge that you were part of the new Driving School and the 1st annual Canadian Legends of the Autobahn,

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank-you, a Happy Holiday Season and all the Best for 2013.
