Annual BBQ and Concours Lite
The Annual BBQ took place Sunday August 26th at Mercedes-Benz Downtown, 761 Dundas St. E., Toronto 12:00 - 3:00PM. The BBQ was organized by PureMB and they did a great job.  The sun was shining, the food was excellent and there were more than 50 cars in attendance.
Thanks to all that participated in the Concours Lite. Congratulations to Dan Lampietro winning the 1996-Present category with his CL550, Maya Iliev winning the 1980-1995 category with her 190E and Marcus van Bers winning the pre 1980 category with his 230SL.
Driving School
We are sorry that we were not able to schedule the AMG Driving School for our Toronto Section in 2012. However, we have made plans to run a course in Spring of 2013.
STARFEST 2012, Phoenix

I just returned from the 2012 MBCA StarFest. This year's event has held in Phoenix at the spectacular Arizona Biltmore resort.

Doug Dees, venerable VP of the Toronto Section and President of the MBCA Educational Foundation was there to govern the first Teen Driving Class

This first of its kind special teen driving clinic is being offered to help teens and new drivers avoid the perils of early driving and help prevent the 4,000 to 5,000 teen deaths that occur in auto accidents each year in the N.A. The class, which was delivered as a one-day event on Saturday, September 29, was the official launch of MBCAEF's "Safe Drivers, Safe Families" Program.

Safe Drivers, Safe Families is intended to teach students the consequences of driving while texting; the dangers of driving while talking on cell phones and critical driving techniques.

Lauren Howe, Miss Teen Canada 2011, who recently joined the Educational Foundation as its national spokesperson was also present and involved. Ms. Howe is a second year engineering student and is a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast and safe driving advocate who will be participating in the Safe Drivers, Safe Families Program. Her safe driving tips will be a regular feature on our website.

Besides his spearheading of the Teen Driving, Doug was also official judge for the W113 and W107 class at the StarFest 2012 Concours d'Elegance

I also got my feet wet in judging at such a prestigious event in the same Pagoda & 107 SL classes.

Another member from the Toronto section present was Michel Hoegl. While owning some show quality cars, at this StarFest Michael was wearing his helmet not a straw hat and participated in the StarFest 2012 Track events. Here, he won not just one but three awards with his powerful and swift SL74 (a Renntech modified SL600 V12) that he handled skillfully around the Firebird International Racetrack. Congratulations to Michael.

It should be noted that he drove his SL all the way from home in Perry Sound, Ontario to Phoenix, Arizona plus on the autocross & track on 5 year old 4 season tires. Only after the track session he opted for a new set of tires for his return.

Fall Wine Tour
The fall MBCA Niagara wine tour took place the weekend of October13-14th.  The tour commenced with a delicious tasting and lunch at Peninsula Ridge winery before driving amongst the vineyards and fall colours on display throughout the region.  The two days of driving and tasting covered a distance of about 300km and included stops at six different wineries, a visit to Brocks monument and a humorous and detailed formal tasting at the Colaneri Estate Winery (pictured).  The weather, company, and food were all outstanding.  Thanks to all that participated.

Please go to our website for a more detailed report.

The Royal Ambassador will be a nice, fitting alternative for Christmas. As the Club is growing, we want to encourage more members to enjoy the benefits of attending Club functions and of course in keeping with the vision most Mercedes-Benz owners have of their vehicle it is: Elegant, upscale and refined.

The chefs from the Royal Ambassador are putting together a delicious 4 course dinner ($50 for MBCA members & family, $60 for non-members)

Please note that this year a standard open bar is included for the dinner.

During the evening we will entertain you with our now famous video shorts. incl. the BBQ, Niagara Wine country Fall Tour and other informative and enjoyable clips from our Mercedes-Benz video archives.
