By the time you receive this issue of the Navigator, we will have concluded our first session of New Student Orientation (NSO) and be gearing up for Sessions 2 and 3 occurring this week. For those of you who will be joining us for NSO, we look forward to meeting you in person and welcoming you into the Tulane community. However, if you will be unable to join us on campus this month, we hope you will use these newsletters to stay connected.

We'll be encouraging students throughout NSO to stay connected with us on social media by using #TUNSO16 (Tulane University New Student Orientation) to share their NSO memories. We look forward to reading about yours!

If you have any questions or concerns about anything Orientation, Fall Welcome, new student programs, or just Tulane related, feel free to contact our office by emailing orientation@tulane.edu or giving us call at (504) 865.5180. You'll also find helpful resources by checking out our website, orientation.tulane.edu.

You'll be seeing this sight firsthand in only a couple of months! Use the information outlined in this Navigator to help you stay on top of important deadlines leading up to the fall semester and ways to stay on top of things during the summer months.
Can't make it to New Student Orientation?

If you won't get the chance to join us this summer, don't stress! New Student Programs has ways for you to stay on top of things and get students who cannot attend up to speed as quickly as possible in order to make the transition to Tulane and New Orleans easily in the fall.

If you cannot attend, check your permanent mailing address the second week of July for a copy of our New Student Orientation Guidebook and a copy of our Parent Guide that we hand out to new students during NSO

To schedule classes, you can contact the Academic Advising Center at (504) 865-5798. Advisors will schedule appointments with students beginning June 28. You will not be able to set up an advising appointment prior to June 28. Our tips include:
  • Check your Tulane email regularly! These Navigator E-Newsletters are full of tips and recommendations. You'll get these Navigators twice a month in the summer in your inbox, along with a great deal of important information from the University more frequently than that.
  • You can connect with your classmates through the Facebook Class of 2020 page and follow Orientation on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Visit our website, orientation.tulane.edu, often! We'll have some great electronic resources available for you.
  • Review the New Student Summer Checklist to make sure you have all of your ducks in a row: Checklist.
You will be able to obtain your Splash Card (university ID) on Move-In Day (Friday, August 26) and will have plenty of opportunities to meet your classmates and get settled here on campus during Fall Welcome.
Coming Soon: Fall Welcome 2016!

Each issue we'll highlight a signature event from Fall Welcome 2016. What's that you might ask? Fall Welcome is Tulane's three-week kick-off to the new academic year with programs and activities for both new students and those returning to campus in the fall. Fall Welcome begins on Move-In Day on Friday, August 26, with the TU Move KREWE volunteers ready to greet you and your families and help you move in! They'll do all the heavy lifting. You just need to carry yourself.

As a new student participating in Fall Welcome, you'll have the opportunity to go to plenty of academic and social programs in order to help you meet other students, make new friends, and get to know your way around Tulane! The Orientation Coordinators (or OCs) are student staff and experienced Tulanians who will help guide you through Fall Welcome to answer your questions and help you feel comfortable. We're still building the schedule to make 2016 the best Fall Welcome yet, but get a sneak peak at fallwelcome.tulane.edu.
