DeafHearingSibs  Family Day: Discovering Our Roots Together
Fremont, California    July 20, 2013 Like us on Facebook

New Sibs Flyer 2013 Greetings!

Family Day is just two weeks away!  Details below.

This year's Sibs event will be by far our most exciting yet, with special outreach to young people.  Our youth need the wisdom and guidance.  We Boomers and other like minded mature adults can give them. And likewise, we can learn a lot from them.

We have an exciting program prepared and now we're just waiting for our one missing link- YOU.

Come join us for the full meal 9 am to 9 pm!!! July 20!

Come share your family stories with Deaf and Hearing family members!

Invite your sibling - Deaf or Hearing - to participate in a retreat designed with you in mind.

Hope to see you there!

Helen Young:

"This is one of the best things you can do for your family."

Molly Bowen:

" I am so proud to be involved in this year's DeafHearingSibs  Family Day: Discovering Our Roots Together.

This event is an outgrowth from the CODA Conference experience. Many Codas expressed that they longed to share their Coda experience with their Deaf Siblings, and other family members.

Many Deaf individuals also expressed that there was no place for them to have this kind of experience with their hearing family members (siblings/parents/
grandparents).

Thus, this Event is open to ALL members of our Deaf/Hearing Families, professionals and community members.   This year we are opening the Event to include teens 13 and over, to accompany their family.  This will give the opportunity for participants to explore and share the unique experiences living in two cultures under one roof,  Deaf and Hearing, to improve communication, respect and to honor our family relationships.

I want to take this journey with my family and with YOURs too!"

Past Participant:

"It's like a family reunion. Only with an added caveat. Lot's of new friends and family whom may not share the same blood, but share a common theme, life experience and desires for a better tomorrow. Want you come. There is nothing else like the Sibs event, anywhere."
