  Jody Anderson and Lois Backscheider
Co-chairs committed to Walk/5K in Duluth

"It is important to us because it enables us to be proactive in fighting this insidious disease," says Lois Backscheider of the event she and fellow lupus fighter Jody Anderson co-chair. "In this way, those of us with lupus are able to take control of, and fight back against, the disease we battle daily."

Since its launch in 2011, the Lupus Walk for Hope and 5K Run in Duluth has been championed by this dynamic pair. Lois, a retired school administrator and Jody, a recently retired nonprofit program director, have been an integral part in bringing the annual fundraising event to the area.

Vroom ... vehicle donation takes off at LFM

Did you know that LFM now accepts donations of used vehicles? In fact, we now welcome cars, trucks, boats, and in most cases, jet skis, ATVs, motorcycles and even snowmobiles! Most of our donations thus far have been from word of mouth, that is, friends telling friends in support of our fight against lupus. So, spread the word!!

We are happy to answer any questions about donating, and we accept any vehicle, running or not. If you want to avoid the headache of selling your vehicle yourself or large vehicle repair bills, turn wasted space into a tax deduction and help support efforts to find a cure for lupus and donate your vehicle to LFM today!

Empower yourself with holistic workshops in September

Certified reflexologist Amy Schroeder provides techniques that will reduce fatigue, decrease anxiety and help support overall relaxation in the Reflexology workshop on September 23.

Space is limited; please register early.
