SLA First Grade Students Publish Book
South Lancaster Academy (SLA) first grade students worked during the month of April on all aspects of book publishing from brainstorming and research, to writing and editing. The final product was a book titled, Heroes Down Through Time, a compilation of stories about Bible and modern-day heroes written and illustrated by the students.

The class celebrated their achievement and the arrival of the book copies with an Authors' Party on May 25. SLA vice principal Theresa Robidoux was the special guest and read the book out loud to the students.

North American Division Breaks Down Walls

Employees of the North American Division (NAD) joined together on May 31 to celebrate the "Drywall Breaking" ceremony that signaled the start of renovations on the new NAD headquarters in Columbia, Maryland. Dan Jackson, NAD president, offered prayer before he, G. Alexander Bryant, executive secretary; and Tom Evans, treasurer, donned hardhats and wielded sledgehammers to make the initial holes in an existing wall.

There are 13 divisions worldwide that make up the General Conference. The NAD is the only one without its own headquarters building. Currently the NAD headquarters is located in the offices of the General Conference and space is very limited. In order to meet the needs of the growing ministries in the NAD and to be more fiscally responsible, the decision was made to relocate. The renovations are scheduled to be finished by April 3, 2017.

Study Shows Effect of Religion on Everyday Life
A recent study by the Pew Research Center shows that Americans who are "highly religious" tended to be "more engaged with their extended families, more likely to volunteer, more involved in their communities and generally happier with the way things are going in their lives." The study defined respondents who pray daily and attend religious services at least once weekly as "highly religious."

Significant differences were not seen between the highly religious and "not highly religious" groups in areas of health, diet, and exercise; interpersonal connections, or social consciousness.
