Bradley Booth New Superintendent of Schools for New York Conference
Bradley Booth (Photo: Alden Ho)
The New York Conference welcomes Bradley Booth as its new superintendent of schools. Booth officially began his work in the conference in early October after returning from Thailand where he served as dean of education and psychology for three years.

Prior to his service in Thailand, Booth was at Atlantic Union College for nine years. He began his teaching career in a one room school and has experience in Africa and Russia as well. He has many interests which include writing, sports, archaeology, and family reunions. He and his wife, Maribel, have three children, and enjoy working with One Voice Youth Ministries.

Booth's vision for Adventist education in the New York Conference is an exciting one. Students in New York Conference schools are blessed to be in a program of excellence. This needs to be shared in their communities to let the public know Jesus is the center of the curriculum. Booth's goal is to provide students with opportunities to showcase Adventist education and witness for Jesus.

Atlantic Union Communication Professionals Attend SAC Convention
A shout out to the communication professionals from the Bermuda, Greater New York, and Northeastern conferences who attended the Society of Adventist Communicators (SAC) Convention on October 24-26 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Some were attending for the first time.

The theme for the convention was "Communicating Christ in the Chaos." The program included general sessions, seminars, Sabbath worship, tours in the local Salt Lake City community, award presentations, and a banquet to end the meetings.

This year's Team SACrifice project involved stuffing animals (bears, turtles, etc.)  to distribute to two local organizations: University of Utah Hospital (sponsored by North American Division Family Ministries) and Huntsman Cancer Hospital (sponsored by North American Division Women's Ministries).
Next year, SAC is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The convention is scheduled for October 16-18, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. For more information on SAC and next year's convention, visit adventistcommunicator.org.

"On Sunday, October 27, 2013, delegates voted (72%-28%) to elect Sandra Roberts as president of the Southeastern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

"Roberts had served since 2004 as executive secretary of SECC. Previously, she worked as a teacher, chaplain, youth director, and pastor. She received her masters degree from Andrews University in 1984, and received a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2006 from Claremont School of Theology.

"In her new role, Roberts took the opportunity to recognize the new conference officers and to thank the delegates for their involvement in the constituency session. In her address, she expressed her desire and challenged the audience to follow Jesus in the work that needs to be done throughout the territory of SECC."

Adventist Officers Release Statement Regarding a Local Conference's Recent Election of President (ANN)
"Seventh-day Adventist world church officials today released a statement regarding a local conference that recently elected as president a person who is not recognized by the world church as an ordained minister. Ordination is one of the criteria for being a conference president."

"The Seventh-day Adventist Church has been called by God as an urgent, end-time voice proclaiming God's love and last day message to the world. He has commissioned us to proclaim the three angels' messages of Revelation 14:6-12 to people worldwide desperately looking for hope. The message and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is unique and is heaven-sent. Our top priority as a church is knowing Jesus ourselves and sharing His message of redemption. Nothing is to stand in the way of this proclamation as we unite to reach every 'nation, kindred, tongue and people' with the 'everlasting gospel.' "
