Revelation of Hope Joint Camp Meeting - June 29
The joint camp meeting for the Greater New York and Northeastern conferences is on June 29 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1255 Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale, New York.

Ticket recipients should arrive at the Coliseum no later than 9:30 a.m. This will ensure that you obtain a seat. By now tickets should have been distributed by the local church pastors.

Once inside the arena, you will be directed to your seat by an usher. The coliseum will be filled section by section as guests arrive. There is not a specific seat assignment for your ticket.

Tickets lose their value at 10:30 a.m. If you arrive after 10:30, you will not be guaranteed a seat even though you have a ticket. Efforts will be made to accommodate you, but there is no guarantee you will be admitted or seated.

The Nassau Coliseum does not allow outside food on the premises. If you bring your lunch, you will be allowed to consume it in the parking lot and then allowed to re-enter the arena.

Parking for the joint camp meeting at the Nassau Coliseum is FREE for everybody!

An undertaking of this magnitude requires considerable expense.  We are praying that God's people will be moved to give a generous offering in support of this venture.

Compassion Initiatives for the Joint Camp Meeting on June 29
Atlantic Union youth and young adults will be involved with compassion projects at the Joint  Camp Meeting on June 29.

Compassion Projects

1. Blood Drive with the American Red Cross:
A blood drive will take place throughout the day at the Exhibit Hall in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Each person who donates blood will get a colorful compassion T-shirt (blue, pink, or gray).

2. Shoe Drive, with Soles for Souls:
Each person attending the joint camp meeting is being asked to bring a new or a mildly used (in optimum condition) pair of shoes or sneakers to donate for people in need of shoes. Shoes will be collected at the gates as you enter (until midday).

3. Pack 10,000 meals with Stop the Hunger:
300 volunteers are needed to help pack 10,000 vegetarian healthy meals that will go to people who are in need in disaster areas, and to several countries in Central America and Africa.

Dress Code
All youth, young adults, Pathfinders, Adventurers, and anyone who participated in the Compassion Annual Rally in New York or in any other compassion initiatives should wear their compassion T-shirt for the day (wear any of the compassion T-shirts--white and red, blue, pink, gray--or any of the compassion golf shirts).

Two Greater New York Conference Teachers Receive National Award
Catherine Farkas
Catherine Farkas, an elementary school teacher at Middletown Christian school, and Reymelinda Villaruel, an elementary school teacher at Jackson Heights school, are among 10 teachers selected this spring by the Alumni Awards Foundation (AAF) to receive the 2013 Excellence in Teaching Award. The award includes a medallion and $2,000 gift.

The award ceremony for Farkas was held on June 8 at the school in Middletown, New York. Farkas wears many hats, including work in her community, at her local church, and an elementary school teacher. As a teacher, she strives to model excellence to her second, third, and fourth grade classes--following the example of  Jesus, the Master Teacher.

Reymelinda Villaruel
The award ceremony for Villaruel, was held on June 9 at the Jackson Heights in Woodside, New York. Villaruel models a true passion for teaching, which is delivered in a creative manner. She is continually updating her craft and finding ways to engage her fifth- and sixth-graders, as well as her mathematic students in seventh and eighth grade.

AAF is a nonprofit organization that has awarded grants to Seventh-day Adventist schools and teachers totaling more than $2 million. Since its establishment in 1995, the organization has recognized 115 exceptional teachers with the Excellence in Teaching Award.

North American Publishing Houses Asked to Consider Merger
On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, the General Conference and North American Division administrations forwarded to the boards of Pacific Press Publishing Association and Review and Herald Publishing Association a request for the two organizations to consider a merger in the near future.

The proposal comes in response to church administrators' analysis of the current publishing mission setting along with related distribution systems. It builds upon the work of several commissions and groups that over the past several years have studied the challenges and opportunities arising from rapid technology changes in publishing as well as changes in how society accesses information.

The boards of both institutions met separately Wednesday evening, and each, by overwhelming majority votes, expressed agreement to consider a yet-to-be-developed merger proposal. In addition, each board authorized its chair and president to represent the institution on a taskforce whose assignment will be to develop a detailed merger proposal for future consideration by the boards and constituents.
