El-Siloe French Church Destroyed by Fire

The sanctuary before the fire.
The El-Siloe French Seventh-day Adventist Church on Liberty Street in Lynn, Massachusetts, was left in ruins after a three-alarm blaze broke out about 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22. The 118-year-old wood structure was left in ruins.

The fast-moving fire forced the evacuation of more than 200 people from a nearby apartment complex.  No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.

By Wednesday afternoon, Lynn city inspectors ordered the structure razed because of safety concerns. Crews tore the church down on Thursday, May 23.

El Siloe members are temporarily worshiping in the basement of the Lynn Spanish church.
