Southwestern was recently featured in "America's Top 10 Entertainment Law Schools" by The Hollywood Reporter, which "evaluated course offerings, practical training, and the esteemed alumni of the nation's more than 200 law schools to create [a] first-ever list of the best spots for a stellar showbiz education. Southwestern, home of the Donald E. Biederman Entertainment and Media Law Institute, ranked fourth in the country."

The Los Angeles Business Journal published its list of the 40 top intellectual property lawyers in Los Angeles. Southwestern alumni in "Who's Who in L.A. Law - Angelenos to Know in Intellectual Property Law" include: J. Alison Grabell '96, Partner, Ezra Brutzkus Gubner LLP; Robert J. Jacobs '92, Chair, Entertainment Litigation, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP; Robert Kovelman '91,Partner, Steptoe; and Karin G. Southwestern recognized three outstanding attorneys for their contributions to the entertainment and media industries, the legal profession and legal education, at the recent Donald E. Biederman Entertainment and Media Law Institute Awards Reception. Thomas H. Hoberman '75 received the award for Outstanding Alumnus in Entertainment and Media Law; Deborah Drooz '85 was recognized as Outstanding Adjunct Professor in Entertainment and Media Law; and Russell Frackman received the Donald E. The 25th Annual Awards Recognition Reception

Who would you like to see honored at the 2013 Awards Recognition Reception sponsored by the Southwestern Alumni Association?

 

The Southwestern Alumni Association Board of Directors is currently accepting nominations for its 2013 Annual Awards Recognition Reception. This annual event allows the Alumni Association and other members of the Southwestern community the opportunity to recognize alumni and friends for their outstanding service to the law school, community at-large, and legal profession. Awards will be handed out in the following categories:

 

Alumnus/a of the Year - Presented to a graduate who represents the best ideals of Southwestern through their professional accomplishments and demonstrated service to the community, law school and legal profession. 

 

Outstanding Judicial Officer - Presented to a Southwestern alumnus or alumna in recognition of their distinguished career as a member of the judiciary, service to the community and commitment to the mission of the law school.  

 

Outstanding Friend - Presented to a non-alumni friend of Southwestern who, through their commitment and/or volunteer effort, has strongly supported the ideals and mission of the law school.

 

If there is someone you think should be considered for one of these awards (including yourself), please submit your nominee(s) to the Institutional Advancement Office via email at alumni@swlaw.edu.
