Message from the Chair
Greetings!
Don't forget to vote! Today is the last day to vote in the Colorado Democratic Primary, and while there are no Dem primary contests in Larimer County, our candidates still like to see you support them on the ballot. So please drop your ballots off, and as an added measure, choose one or two candidates on the ballot, go to their website, and donate or sign up to volunteer. There are other great ways to join the cause, too, including some upcoming events this week (info below). It's time to get involved!
Thank you for supporting the Larimer Dems!
James Thompson, Chair

HB16-1324 Signed into Law
On June 10th, Gov. Hickenlooper signed HB16-1324, Sponsored by Rep. Joann Ginal. The new law will help veterinarians more efficiently and effectively serve their patients.
"The situation this bill aims to address is one that is all-too familiar: a beloved pet is injured or becomes sick and requires compounded pharmaceuticals, only to find that the nearest pharmacy is closed," Rep. Ginal said. "In these situations, the animal-patient's health, and often its life, is in jeopardy due to the delay in acquiring the necessary drugs. This law solves this problem by allowing veterinarians to retain a stock of compounded drugs in anticipation of just such an emergency situation."
Protecting Kids from Marijuana Edibles A bill by Reps. Dan Pabon and Joann Ginal to protect kids from marijuana edibles that are easily confused with candy was signed into law by Gov. Hickenlooper on June 10th.
"This is a commonsense approach to protecting Colorado kids," said Rep. Joann Ginal, D-Fort Collins. "Marijuana edibles are designed for adults over 21 years of age, and we need safeguards to ensure that these products don't mimic products marketed to children."
HB16-1436 requires the Marijuana Enforcement Division in the Department of Revenue to create rules that prohibit edible medical and retail marijuana products shaped like a human, animal or fruit.
