Message from the Chair

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Annual Dinner on Saturday! It was a great way to end a day that included the CD-2 Assembly in Fort Collins, where the Larimer Dems hosted Dems from all over the district and we nominated Jared Polis once more to be our candidate for Congress.

Congressman Dan Kildee of Michigan gave a wonderful and cautionary keynote speech about the Flint drinking water crisis, and he mentioned that some of his best memories as a child included summer vacations in Estes Park.

Thanks again to everyone who helped out with both events that day, and to everyone who donated money or silent auction items. It was a great Saturday in Larimer County.

Thank you for supporting the Larimer Dems!

                                              -- James Thompson, Chair

Ginal Bill Preserving Ag Land Advances

A bill by Representative Joann Ginal to preserve agricultural land and reduce workloads for county assessors passed the House on second reading, March 24th. HB16-1339 allows agricultural land that includes residential property to be assessed as agricultural.
"What we want is a working farm to remain a working farm," said Rep. Ginal. "This bill prevents ag land from being split up during the foreclosure process just because there is an independent residence on the land."
The bill continues to a third reading by the House.
