Message from the Chair
Greetings.

Last Friday, we were all of course dumbstruck by the attacks in Paris, at that time the latest in a number of senseless acts of violence around the world. As the West reassesses the global security situation, and measures are taken to respond to the attacks and address the wider foreign policy crisis we face, some politicians have taken to pointing fingers and making politics out of a horrible tragedy.

Others have resisted the temptation to score political points, like Governor John Hickenlooper, who yesterday stood up to those who would refuse refuge to victims of the Syrian conflict. By striking the right balance between security and compassion for people who have had their lives torn apart by war, Governor Hickenlooper has made a courageous stand. Thank you, Governor.
