Message from the Chair

Greetings!

Monday night, I attended the monthly Metro Officers (formerly Metro Chairs) meeting at the Jefferson County Dems office in Lakewood. Several chairs, vice chairs, secretaries, and treasurers from counties in the Denver Metro area and beyond discussed upcoming local races, the Colorado legislative session, and of course 2016.

One topic of discussion introduced by State Chair Rick Palacio was the news that a bipartisan bill would likely be introduced before the end of session (which is May 6) that would create an early presidential primary in Colorado, while maintaining the caucus system and June primaries for down-ticket races. The intent is to give Colorado a greater voice in the presidential campaigns, and it could have the added benefit of more active engagement by our less active Dems.

You can read more about the bill at the link below. Feel free to email me at chair@larimerdems.org with any thoughts you might have on this legislation, and be sure to share them with your state legislators.
