Message from the Chair

I want to thank all of our volunteers and the attendees of the 2014 Larimer County Democrats Annual Dinner and Silent Auction for their contributions to a successful program and fundraiser. The event surpassed our goals and we are well on the way to building a strong 2014 GOTV effort. If we keep up this pace, we should be able to celebrate our efforts next November with the re-election of Senator Udall, Congressman Polis, Governor Hickenlooper, Representative Joann Ginal, and the election of Jeni Arndt, Kathy Gilliland, and Betsy Markey.

If you wondered why every day and every effort matters in our volunteer work, you don't have to look at the how the most recent Ryan budget continues to fund six-figure tax breaks for billionaires with middle class tax hikes. You don't have to remember how congressional Republican leaders casually dismissed income inequalities for American women. You only have to check the votes in our Colorado state committee on Business, Labor, Economic, & Workforce. Senate Bill 14-117, sponsored by Representative Randy Fischer, faced five Republican votes that would take Colorado out of compliance with federal law and could shut down the state's mortgage lending system. Because that was the Republican contribution to Colorado's well being for Thursday, April 10th, 2014, many of us will be in Denver this weekend for the 2014 CD 2 and CDP Assembly, working for the organization that will help us win in November. Join us.

--William Russell

"Without this bill Coloradans would not be able to get a mortgage or purchase mortgage insurance. It's confounding to me that the Republicans on this committee voted no on this important, common-sense bill, especially considering they all voted for it last year."

--Rep. Randy Fischer
