Message from the Chair

Congratulations to all of our friends who volunteered in this year's elections as a candidate, a volunteer or an advocate for one of the ballot issues. No matter what our differences are, the personal contributions of time and talent made in these local elections are great examples of what it means to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. I saw many honorable efforts and very little bad behavior. Once again, even large amounts of money had little effect on some efforts, and everybody is pleased with that idea.

Senator John Kefalas is hosting a Community Conversation this Saturday. Join Sen. Kefalas at the SIP Café inside the Raintree Athletic Club to share your thoughts, ask questions and engage in conversation about issues facing our community. See details below.

Community Conversation with Sen. Kefalas

Senator John Kefalas will host a Community Conversation at the SIP Café inside the Raintree Athletic Club (2555 S. Shields Street in Fort Collins, CO 80526) on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.

Citizens are encouraged to come and engage in a robust dialogue, to ask questions and share input. All of his Community Conversations are free.

Sunday, November 17: 

Namaqua Forum: Fracking In Loveland: Who Wins, Who Loses?

On Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 6:30 pm the Namaqua Forum will present a panel discussion on fracking in the Gertrude Scott Room of the Loveland Public Library. Wes Wilson, retired EPA analyst, Phil Doe, former Bureau of Reclamation officer and bureau chief and Dr. Jim Danforth, retired Loveland family physician will discuss the current state of affairs around fracking in our Loveland community and statewide. There will be a question and answer period following presentations by each speaker. Loveland's initiative for a 2 year moratorium on drilling in the city limits is currently in the courts to determine if it can be brought before voters.

Community Issues forum with Sen. Kefalas, Rep. Ginal and Rep. Fischer: Disaster Relief and Response: Looking Forward Using Lessons from the Past 

Senator John Kefalas will co-host a Community Issues Forum with Representatives Joann Ginal and Randy Fischer at the Old Town Library (201 Peterson Street) in Fort Collins on Saturday, November 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. They will welcome Kurt Morrison and Keith Sheaffer of the Colorado Department of Transportation; Mike Gavin, Emergency Manager for the Poudre Fire Authority; Mike Walker, Executive Director of Serve 6.8; Sean Cronin, Executive Director of the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District; and a representative from the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and engage in a robust dialogue, to ask questions and share input. All Community Issues Forums are free, nonpartisan and open to the public.
