Message from the Chair
We're entering day three of our national effort to improve health care by rolling out insurance pools and health care co-operatives. In the first two days of business, millions of Americans have showed up and asked, "Can I lower my costs, get better health insurance, and help my community through the Affordable Care Act?" The answer is yes. Improving access to our health care system by increasing the pool of insurance customers will help everybody live better, learn more, and work harder. This is good for our families, good for our young and old, and good for business. By working together, we can improve the lives of all Americans.
Some political actors have escalated their "the sky is falling" routine to economic sabotage and public malfeasance. The government shutdown is bad for most of our families, but this theater of obstruction is dangerous to those families that count on the few small programs that support single moms, preschool children, and wounded service members. By working together, we can do the important and necessary work of our country.
And for those around you that postulate that Obamacare will "decimate" this great nation but that the Affordable Care Act sounds great, please tell them the truth. "It's the same thing. Sign up or insure yourself, but let's go back to work."
--William Russell
