Message from the Chair
I hope you had a chance to review the most recent performance of Senator Ted Cruz this week. As one of the new leaders of the GOP, Sen. Cruz pretended to filibuster to an empty chamber, and spent nearly the whole time speaking about...himself. Majority Leader Harry Reid even graciously offered Sen. Cruz an additional hour, probably because Sen. Reid enjoyed seeing the party in obstruction cowering in the back halls to their hide their embarrassment. Some of the more outlandish Nazi references were denounced by none other than Sen. Cruz's own Republican colleague to the west, Sen. John McCain. I'm getting used to the outrageous fictions of this farcical faction, but Sen. Cruz's rendition of Green Eggs and Ham was frightening. If the children ever hear him read that book aloud, they will never go to sleep.
If you want to support rational and serious legislation that supports your middle class family, don't forget to support your rational and serious Democratic candidates before the end of this reporting period. (Joe Neguse--This Saturday!) There are only a few days left before September 30th. Do what you can, as soon as you can, for your Colorado state and local Democratic candidates. (Joe Nugese! See the details below).
--William Russell
"I resoundingly reject that allegation, to allege that there are people today who are like those who, prior to World War II, didn't stand up and oppose the atrocities that were taking place in Europe, because I have an open and honest disagreement with the process ... is an inappropriate place for debate on the floor of the United States Senate."
--Senator John McCain
