Message from the Chair
Today Is Election Day (again)! All the Early Vote Centers are open to collect mail ballots, or repair spoiled and lost ballots until 5:00 pm, Monday, November 5th. Early voting is not available today. These sites are listed at LarimerDems.org.
New to this year: The Larimer County elections office is opening drive through ballot drop off in Loveland and Fort Collins from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, on the Monday before Election Day. That's right, you can drive though, drop off your ballot today. Please follow the links and get your mail ballot counted today.
This year's final Election Day opens at 7:00 am tomorrow. At 7:00 pm, the election will be over, and we will make policy with the elected representatives we've chosen. After that thought sinks in, I hope that everyone reading this will find a place to apply themselves for the last two days. Calling friends and relatives to ask about their voting plans is a fine first step. Volunteering even a few hours might be the most important contribution of your life. We have designed our phone banks and canvass corps to accommodate the busy schedules of the working families we serve. Sign up at 689-6391, or info@Larimerdems.org..
After we've done everything we can do to support our candidates (calling and knocking right up to that 7:00 pm deadline), your Larimer County Democrats are hosting the 2012 Election Night Party in the Marriot ballroom, 350 E. Horsetooth, Fort Collins. All our candidates and campaigns will be there and everybody is welcome. Come watch the big wins on the big screens.
--William Russell
"Just as there was in Teddy Roosevelt's time, there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let's respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. 'The market will take care of everything,' they tell us. If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes---especially for the wealthy-- our economy will grow stronger. ... even if prosperity doesn't trickle down, well, that's the price of liberty. Now, it's a simple theory. ... But here's the problem: It doesn't work. It has never worked."
--President Barack Obama, Dec 6th, 2011. Osawatomie, Kansas
