Congregation Emanu-El Newsletter
April 2013

Letter from the President
Dear Friends,

Wow!  I am just in awe of the vibrancy of, and commitment to, Congregation Emanu-El by our growing and thriving community. During the last year and a half, I have seen much evidence of our growth, but this last month has just solidified it for me.

We had our largest, and most joyful, Community Seder with 112 people attending, 22 of them children. Yet despite the size, it was warm and intimate with old friends and new.  My favorite memories of the Seder were laughing to the frog song, singing along to Aaron's guitar playing, and, of course, dancing to Miriam's song.  Everyone there contributed in some way to make the event happen, including an almost-3-year-old helping his father put away a round table after the Seder by "pushing" from behind.

In addition to all the work and effort that went into the Seder, our vibrancy and commitment was also evident this month in the response to our call for the Kavanah Fund.  The Kavanah Fund was designed to support Emanu-El's intention for growth and sustainability.  Many of our members have already donated or pledged to the Kavanah Fund and we have almost reached our goal of $14,000. With this fund we will be able to continue with the spiritual leadership of Rabbi Tamar. How nice to know that we are starting the process of financial stability, a challenge for many faith communities.

I am grateful for all of our members and thank you all.  I recommend we each take a moment to contemplate our community and what we have given and received because of our shared commitment to Congregation Emanu-El.

L'Shalom, Miriam
