VMP Welcomes New Director of Programs

We are thrilled to welcome Rose Marie Wiegandt to the VMP team as our new director of programs!  She joins us after a long tenure with Communities in Schools of Richmond, most recently serving as the program director for elementary schools. Rose Marie has more than a decade of non-profit and school community experience, and knows firsthand the power of mentoring. She brings a wealth of knowledge, as well as great training skills and fantastic relationships in our community and beyond. Get to know VMP's newest team member with a little Q & A!

What are you most looking forward to about your new role as Director of Programs?
"I am really looking forward to connecting with our program partners and their mentors, and figuring out the best way that I can support them to help strengthen their mentoring programs."

Tell us about a time that you have been a mentor and what it has meant to you.

"One of my favorite moments of being a mentor to Marcus was being invited to his high school graduation. After the ceremony, he said "Ms. W., I don't know if I would have gotten here if you were not there to support me." That meant the world to me, being a small part of his success, and helping him see that his future is bright. Mentoring brings a lot of gratitude, both for the mentor and the mentee."

What do you like to do when you are not working at VMP?
"Most of all, I love to hang out with my son! I also enjoy going to yoga classes, and I love to be outside and get out on the river."

Rose Marie can be reached at rosemarie@vamentoring.org or 804-828-1536. She looks forward to connecting with all of our partners and friends very soon!
