VMP Staff Attend Workshops at National Mentoring Summit
Last month, VMP staff and VISTA members attended the National Mentoring Summit in D.C. with representatives from other mentoring programs around the state--and with almost 1000 mentoring supporters and advocates from across the country. Our staff attended workshops focusing on the latest research, program techniques, and best practices for mentoring partnerships. We spent a full day on Capitol Hill, meeting with Virginia legislators to educate them on several bills that would advance the mentoring movement in the U.S. For the next two days, keynote speakers and panelists inspired us to expand the mentoring effect, and affirmed our work to help close the mentoring gap for young people in our communities.
