Little Free Library Application for Funding
The City installed its first Little Free Library (Community Book Exchange) recently at West Hollywood Elementary School.
 If you are a West Hollywood Resident and are interested in installing and hosting a Little Free Library on your property, then you may be eligible to receive funds to cover the cost. Click here for more info.

WHAP! stands for the West Hollywood Aesthetics and Politics lecture series, organized by Cal Arts and supported by the City of West Hollywood. The City of West Hollywood's Lesbian Speakers Series presents a film screening of "The Passionate Pursuits of Angela Bowen," a documentary film about Angela Bowen, who grew up in inner-city Boston during the Jim Crow Era, went on to be become a classical ballerina, a legendary dance teacher, a black lesbian feminist activist, writer and professor.  The film screening will be followed by a discussion with writer/director Jennifer Abod. For more info click here. AmaTerra is a show about one woman's journey to save the butterfly forest in which she lives. Using blacklight theater, dance, circus arts and aerial arts, AmaTerra captivates the imagination, uplifts the spirit and inspires audiences of all ages. AmaTerra utilizes illuminated LED and UV-reactive wings, hoops, and aerial silks that tell a story of personal transformation and environmental stewardship. MOCA Artists on Artists Talk: Miranda July on Catherine Opie

Miranda July is a filmmaker, artist, and writer. Her participatory artworks take myriad forms, including websites, sculpture gardens, performances, and messaging apps. July will speak about the exhibition at MOCA-PDC, "Catherine Opie: 700 Nimes Road" that presents images of the Bel Air, California residence of the late actress Elizabeth Taylor. Artists on Artists is a new series that builds upon MOCA's tradition of examining works and exhibitions through the voice of the artist. This program is presented with the support of the City of West Hollywood through WeHo Arts. A free event with priority given to MOCA members. For more info click here.

The City of West Hollywood's Lesbian Speakers Series, in conjunction with the June Mazer Lesbian Archives and Wolfe Video, presents a film screening of "Liz in September." This film is based on the classic Lesbian play "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove." It stars Latina lesbian supermodel Patricia Velasquez and is directed by esteemed Venezuelan director Fina Torres ("Woman on Top").  A panel discussion (guests to be announced) will follow the film screening. For more info click here.

One City One Pride Opportunity:  Hollywood Fringe Scholarship
Hollywood Fringe, WeHo Arts, and One City One Pride have teamed up to offer a limited amount of scholarships to LGBTQ themed plays for One City One Pride. These scholarships will be made available through a lottery in April 2016. For more info, click here.
 

Artist in Residence RFQ
The City of West Hollywood charges is undertaking a community-focused cultural planning process.
As part of the planning process, the City, through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission, is seeking an artist or artist group to join the planning team to create opportunities for the public to participate in the process in creative and engaging ways. The selected artist/artist group should have experience in social practice art. For more info, click here. Deadline is April 4, 2016.

National Queer Performing Arts Summit: Call for Performing Artists
This opportunity is open to all LGBTQ identified performing artists national and international, emerging and established. Art can be a powerful tool used to create a more socially just and equitable world. Artists who are under-represented queer performing artists who deepen the impact of their artistic presentations by engaging audiences to connect to their histories, experiences, and creative expressions of future possibilities are sought.
