The inaugural West Hollywood City Poet Steven Reigns has organized a variety of events during April for National Poetry Month 2015. All month long there will be banners along Santa Monica Blvd, bringing poetry into the street. See all banners and get information on the poets here.

100 Walkers, West Hollywood

"100 Walkers, West Hollywood" is a large scale performance piece created by artist Richard Kraft in which one hundred people, each dressed in a dark suit and bowler hat and wearing a sandwich board (with a unique image on both front and back) will walk pre-determined routes through the city. The piece will begin with all one hundred walkers forming a grid in the El Tovar parking lot next to West Hollywood Park.
This project is presented by the City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission as part of WeHo@30, the West Hollywood celebration of 30 years of Cityhood. Married North by Hal Corley directed by Nathan Frizell. Set in the summer of 1959, Married North is a seriocomic story of transplanted southerners in a Washington DC suburb during the infamous "Lavender Scare"- the purge of "pinkos and perverts" from the Federal payrolls- that grew out of the McCarthy Era. WeHo Reads: LeVar Burton, The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm

The City of West Hollywood celebrates the literary community with WeHo Reads, which consists of a year-round author series featuring new and noteworthy authors at the West Hollywood Library and a full day of literary events scheduled for September 26, 2015.
LeVar Burton is well-known for being host and executive producer of Reading Rainbow, a TV series that encouraged reading among children and ran for 23 seasons. In late 2014, LeVar Burton published his first children's book, The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm. On April 25, Burton will read from the book while the words are projected on the screen behind him so children can read along as well. As part of the 30th Anniversary of Cityhood, the City of West Hollywood presents a photographic exhibition of historically designated resources in West Hollywood.
