Have Your Organization Be Part of Jack's Tour
Until May 15, 2013, your organization can invite me to speak for one hour at your organization about job interviewing skills. (Rose and I are leaving town for six months after that date!) Are you ready for the fee? Yup, the hour is free. This is a BIG SUBJECT these days. Millions of employees (and a few more million who don't have jobs) are looking to get promoted or hired and my Job Interviewers: Get Inside Their Heads is an awesome tool to get an edge against the competition. Interested? Please send me an email. Hope to see you soon! |
Unforgettable Stuff From Recent Workshops Some unexpected comments and questions come out of workshops, as some of you have witnessed. Recently a woman told me in front of an audience of 50 or so that my answer to her question was a bad one. Yes, she actually said the words, "That was a very bad answer." Truth be known, the participant's first two Colors were Green and Gold. Sometimes unvarnished truth is what you get from Green folks. You might have trouble believing this, but every single time that I am lucky enough to get criticism from such a person, I work to squelch my emotional reactions and instead concentrate on the message which, at this event, turned out to be objective, well considered, and correct. Yes, CORRECT! It turns out the clear information she needed was crucial not only to her understanding but to the design of future workshops on this subject. Elsewhere, a group of Orange folks wondered why everybody in the whole world didn't want to be just like them. I then asked each of the other groups what they felt about that and each insisted they also wondered why everybody in the whole world didn't want to be like each of them -- Blue, Gold or Green. I explained that therein lies the reason to study Colors and the reason for which David Keirsey wrote one of last century's most important books, Please Understand Me II. People of each temperament hold tightly onto a value system they naturally prefer over other value systems. It can be foolish to think we can change the temperament that we are born with. However, once we accept other people for who they are and stop wasting time trying to make them like us then, at last, we will open the doors for real harmony and real progress in human interaction. Just a few of the benefits include better understanding, easier conflict resolution, problem solving, and clarity of communication. |
