Turquoise Delight

It is January, most of you have snow, rain, sneeze, cough & cold - there is a way out, watch this:

    Turquoise Delight

We have the pleasure to announce a very special treat to all 5.5m sailors: The turquoise waters of the island of Curacao will be the location of the 2013 5.5m World Championship from January 24th to February 1st, preceded by the races for the precious Scandinavian Gold-Cup.

The recently held referendum on the option to go to the Caribbean has found very good acceptance and so far already 19 boats are listed to each board a 40' high cube container, sailing from a Dutch harbour to Willemstad, Curacao. Locally, three 5.5m boats will be awaiting their guests, for a joyful time in the warmth of the Southern Caribbean, stating so far a preliminary list of participants of 22 boats, whose helmsmen and crews will take a swim here:

With - seen from Europe - a World Championship held "Overseas", the decided International racing in Benodet, Bretagne for 2013, will be declared the 5.5m European Championship, expecting a great number of boats in late August, early September. The exact dates will be announced shortly.

Those boats travelling to Benodet for this event, can later carry on to St. Tropez, where a 5.5m race is planned to be set up at the end of September, with the participants racing for the "Coupe d'Azur", there. We are looking for someone to donate that Cup to the Class, in order to officially initiate an annual end September St. Tropez 5.5m event.

Back to the World Championship in Curacao. Our Dutch friends have been able to find very attractive rates with the local Hyatt 5***** hotel - book now, to enjoy Curacao in January 2013. Your National Class Associations will be providing details of the event, shortly.

So for now, block those dates!

Yours,

Kaspar
