Netherlands
Geert Bakker, PR manager of the Dutch 5.5m Class Association and owner of 5.5 NED 12 "Topaze" www.5.5inventory.org/NED/012 informs:
- After a few years of not gaining new members and the sale of a few boats, we have 2 new members and future racers aboard! The spirit is very positive in the class and we all look forward to the races in 2011.
- I introduced in 2010 a new 5.5 class event at the Westeinder with a variety of 'alternative' races (anything but up & down). The 2010 version was a success, not only because of the good atmosphere, but especially because of the different style of racing and racing tracks. I expect to organise this event every year at the Westeinder, thus becoming a tradition.
- The combined 2012 - 2013 German-Dutch Open in the Netherlands and Germany (2012 in NED, 2013 in GER) starts to be a hot topic in the Dutch fleet.
The Dutch 5.5m Racing calender for 2011 has been released and is expected to be showing up on the Dutch 5.5m website (http://www.5klasse.nl/Vereniging_5.5_Nederland/Home.html), soon.
