These accumulated contaminants restrict the air flow pathway and cause excess energy consumption, while contaminants like bacteria and mold (fungi) adversely impact human health by causing allergies and other infections or diseases.
Research on heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems has indicated that microbial contamination is an immediate problem when it concerns the indoor environment and human health. A study has been performed to determine the effectiveness of steam cleaning latent clogged debris from on or within evaporator coils of an HVAC that is restricting air flow, as well as causing poor air quality.

A new comprehensive report released this week from the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), highlights that there are a large number of compelling benefits from green buildings received by different stakeholders throughout the life cycle of a building.
The report, "The Business Case for Green Building: A Review of the Costs and Benefits for Developers, Investors and Occupants," examines whether or not it's possible to attach a financial value to the cost and benefits of green buildings. Today, green buildings can be delivered at a price comparable to conventional buildings and investments can be recouped through operational cost savings and, with the right design features, create a more productive workplace.

Along with crocuses and budding trees, warmer weather could be bringing a nasty surprise for those whose homes were damaged by flooding from superstorm Sandy -- a resurgence of mold.
