Gram Negative Bacteria by Dr. Rajiv Sahay - EDLab.orgThe main source of endotoxin contamination in indoor environments is the result of infestation of Gram-negative bacteria.

 

Tampa, FL -- Out of various indoor contaminants, bacterial endotoxin may illicit significant health and hygiene effects. The bacterial endotoxin is a biochemical substance composed of a protein, lipid, and polysaccharide molecule known as LPS (Lipopolysaccharide) and/or LOS (Lipooligosaccharide) and is generally found in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. These substances are released into the ambient environment after the lysis of the bacterial cell wall, which contains them. Some Gram-positive bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes may also produce an endotoxin-like substance.

First Duval County Asthma Friendly School, John Love Elementary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Asthma is the third leading cause of hospitalization among children under 15 years of age, and the leading cause of absence in school.

 

One school in Duval County decided to try to do something about it and today they were awarded for it.

 

John Love Elementary is the first school in Duval County to be honored as an Asthma Friendly school by the Florida Asthma Coalition.

POLL: Many Unaware that Basic Homeowner Insurance Skips Mold, Quakes

Many Americans are confused about the basic elements of homeowner insurance policies, according to a new study.

 

More than four in 10 people wrongly think that the policies cover mold damage and 73% don't realize that the policies do cover personal items that are stolen from a car, according to the poll by InsuranceQuotes.com.

 

Perhaps most dangerous for anyone in California, 51% are unaware that earthquake coverage is not covered by standard homeowner policies, the study found.
