LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- On Wednesday, the University of Louisville announced that 270 students had to leave one of the school's residence halls after elevated levels of mold were detected in the hall.

 

According to a posting on the University's Web site, elevated levels of mold spores were found in Miller Hall.

 

"While these molds typically do not pose a health risk to most people, they can cause problems at elevated levels -- especially for those with respiratory problems such as asthma, allergies, and those with high sensitivity to mold," the site states.

Black Mold Forces NCSU Sorority Members Out of House

Raleigh, N.C. - About 35 residents of North Carolina State University's Sigma Kappa sorority have been told they have to move out of the sorority's house by Sunday night after black mold was discovered recently around vents and light fixtures in several bedrooms.

 

Contractors for Beta Beta Land Partnership LLC, which owns the property and leases it to the sorority, has already started working to remove the mold, but to fully clean it, the students must move out for approximately three weeks..

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University of South Carolina has moved some students after finding mold in a dorm.

 

The State newspaper reported that students began noticing mold in Sims dorm rooms about two weeks ago.

 

The school alerted parents and began inspecting and testing in the 73-year-old dorm.

Legionaires Disease Outbreak in Germany

The energy company EnBW confirmed that on Friday the health department investigated the company's cooling tower in connection with the recent legionellosis outbreak and has taken samples. These samples will now be tested by the country's health department. "Also, it is assumed that the power plant may not be the source of the contamination; the health department has to check all potential sources," said the EnBW press office on Friday night. "The health department has to investigate all potential sources of infection to get reliable results."
