The Triennial Convention of the Episcopal Church will convene in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, June 23rd, as bishops, clergy and lay deputies, vendors of religious goods, volunteers and interested onlookers gather to worship together, pray together and conduct the business of the church - including the election of a new Presiding Bishop, which will take place on June 27th. A Prayer for the Tragedy Affecting Emanuel AME Church, Charleston and her Members
This prayer was offered by the Kentucky Council of Churches following the recent shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Zion Church in Charleston, South Carolina. You may use it in your devotions and in your communities.

Holy One, we gather in this virtual space and time to join in prayer for our brothers and sisters of Emanuel AME Church. We are disheartened at the tragedy of lives lost, and one of your faithful communities distressed and wounded. We cry out for comfort and healing for the grieving, and justice and mercy for the perpetrator.

Forgive us for any part that we might have in the cruelty and violence of this world. Shake us from our complacency, and set us on the path of righteousness that leads us to the justice and healing places where we need to be present. Help us to be instruments of your compassion and peace. Give us the courage to speak out against violence, hatred, and prejudice.

By your power, heal all wounds, repair all chasms, bring your kingdom to fruition that all may live in joy, peace, and love. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.

Training

Twelves members of the Diocesan Leadership Team participated in training to be consultants working with congregations. The sessions took place at Mission House, with Group 1 meeting on Thursday morning and group 2 meeting Monday night.  Participants have been involved in many aspects of leadership development in their professional lives and bring those skills to the ministry of leadership development.  They have participated in the basic units of diocesan training, holy conversations ( as participants and staff), design teams, utilizing the process around different content areas and are adding consulting, including mutual ministry and exit interviews and clergy welcomes and farewells to the areas of service they can lead, under the guidance of the Canon to the Ordinary.
