NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF September 17,
 2014
Clergy Conference to Feature Author Silas House
Silas House will be speaking at the clergy conference this year.
One of the visible ways that the Diocese of Lexington manifests as one Church in 36 locations is the manner in which our clergy work together and receive support from one another.  Each year, our clergy come together for education, rest, and renewal at our diocesan clergy conference at the Cathedral Domain.  This year, our clergy will gather October 6-8 and hear from Kentucky author Silas House on the spirituality of Appalachia; receive information and give feedback to the Diocesan Stewardship Commission; and hear from a panel of individuals from Al-Anon.

Appalachian Small Grants: Deadline Extended
Episcopal Appalachian Ministries offers small grants through funding made available from the Episcopal Church General Convention.  These grants are in place to help enable new or start-up ministries with the "seed money" needed in establishing a new ministry.  The money is granted for specific needs at the grass-roots level.

Size of Grants: Grants usually range in size from $500 to $2,000.
The House of Bishops Gathering

The House of Bishops, the collection of all Bishops of the Episcopal Church, gathers twice a year for prayer, conversation, networking and planning.  It is always an opportunity to see what joys and challenges my brother and sister bishops experience, and to share in common mission endeavors.  Presiding Bishop Katharine reminds us not to use the phrase   "the national church", since The Episcopal Church is located in 17 nations across North, Central and South America, Europe, Micronesia and Taiwan.  Meeting with bishops from across the church reminds me that we are indeed a global community of rich cultural variety.
