Meeting on the Mount: The Heights of God's Love, September 20
Mountain stories fill our Bible! Mountains were a way to get close to God. Even Jesus climbed a mountain to get closer to God, the Father.

It had been a long, hard climb up the rough slope of the great mountain near Caesarea Philippi. Peter, James, and John were very tired. These fisherman were not used to mountain climbing! A boat on the cool water probably sounded good to the fisherman after their long trek. Jesus had asked them to go with him, and they felt special. They knew Jesus thought the climb was important, so it became important to them. Jesus wanted to pray. Their eyes felt heavy as they kneeled in prayer and soon keeping their heads up was feeling difficult. Have you ever felt like this? You want to pray, but your body just wants to sleep?

1 Mentor + 1 Child = 2 Changed Lives
What if 30 minutes every 30 days could change a life? What if you got to be part of that? What if your life was changed, too?

As an extension of the relationships built at summer Reading Camps in Central Kentucky, we are offering opportunities for counselors, teachers and other volunteers to be paired with a Reading Camp camper during the school year. Mentors will visit the child at his or her school at least once monthly during school hours. The dates and times will be mutually convenient for the mentors, student and school.

Research shows that mentor relationships with students improve test scores, school performance and self-confidence, and the mentor's life is equally impacted!

Mentoring begins October 2014. At the schools listed below. We have 15 children who still need mentors. Could you mentor one of these children?

Athens Chilesburg
Booker T. Washington
Cardinal Valley
Christ the King
Deep Springs
Mary Todd
Rosenwald Dunbar (Nicholasville)
Southern (Georgetown)
Tates Creek Elementary
White Hall Elementary (Richmond)
Willis H. Justice (Winchester)

If you are interested in mentoring a child this school year, please follow this link, complete the form, and we will contact you.

Join us in mentoring a child. You will find that you get as much as you give, perhaps more.
