From the Bishop
What's God Up To?
The story of St Patrick's Episcopal Church in Somerset began in 1891 as Christ Mission under the Diocese of Kentucky and in 1895 when Kentucky was divided into two Dicoceses the congregation being in the eastern portion of the state became a part of the Diocese of Lexington and remained active until the congregation ceased to exist in 1920 due to finances of the time and lack of a resident priest. However the desire for an Episcopal witness did not die but lay dormant until Phoenix-like it surfaced and rose in 1956 through the faith and commitment of Ed and Mary Ann Boss, Hugh Fuller, Dr. and Mrs Hill, along with the Irwins, the Axons, Sally Cain, Ron Mallory and Mrs Cooper. Before long the historic Fox House was purchased and later a beautiful church was built. They had a purpose and a plan.
Rector's Reflection by Reverend Marcia Hunter

On my drive from Lexington to St Patrick's Somerset I passed a church sign which said, " The first Valentine was sent by God". I didn't catch the rest, but you know what it said, "I love you. Will you be my Valentine?" For many of us our formal "yes" to that question began at the font, but our movement to the font was preceded by intention-ours, our parents or guardians. God's love was already active calling us to the water and to be marked as Christ's own forever.
