Season's Blessings & Peace
During this season we all feel more, do more and rest less.
The world is telling us to buy, buy, buy. Our faith is telling us to rejoice, worship and spread the good news. This dichotomy often pulls us apart. The result is a less than "Merry" a n y t h i n g.
Stop for just a moment, pull out your bible, find a quiet spot in your home or sit quietly in your car and read the Christmas story in Luke. You know how it begins, "In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world...So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth...and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, for there was no room in the Inn."
The giving and receiving of gifts to celebrate the greatest, most miraculous gift of all, does create an anticipation of Christmas. It makes us yearn for something. Do you feel it, too? Too often we fill that yearning with "things."
When all the wrapping paper is cleaned up and the gifts are appreciated take your family or friends, gather them 'round, and give thanks for the gift that was given to you. A gift not paid for by you or your family, a gift given to you for eternity, the most precious one you will ever receive, eternal life.
In honor of the sacrifice God made for us, give freely to the
'Birthday Gift to Jesus' fund on Christmas Eve. You are giving a gift of life to someone, somewhere in the world which was directed by God.
Merry Christmas from the staff. We pray that you will find peace and wonder this Christmas season. The yearning in your soul is for Christ, let him in. |
