Hello!
Welcome to the Missions and Outreach E/Newsletter. Our day to day lives are an open mission field, but St. Matthew has a collective team which represents the Body of Christ throughout Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the end of the Earth.
The desire of the team is to seek to serve together as members of one body of Christ and one church family.
So this newsletter serves as your window into upcoming opportunities to become servants within the missions St. Matthew is called out to impact. So whether you are able to physically connect or the most you can do is pray for these efforts, it is all part of God's plan.
Join us in God's journey

Christ Powered RunningFort Worth Marathon - November 11, 2012
This year St. Matthew CPR (Christ Powered Running) Team will be running to monetarily and spiritually support the construction of a guest house at Evangelical Fellowship Church in Awassa, Ethiopia. The guest house will be rented to missionaries that are being trained on how to reach Muslims for Christ. Upon completion of their education, they will spread out in predominately Muslim areas and start new churches. The profits from the rent will then be used to support the missionaries in the surrounding areas. So, your donation is not just a one-time benefit. It is self-renewing. Donations are tax deductible and will be accepted through November. Please go to the church website under upcoming events to support a specific runner or the whole team. May you bless those as God has blessed you.

A Thankful FeastNovember 22, 2012 Presbyterian Night Shelter Thanksgiving Meal has been served by St. Matthew for several years. We prepare made from scratch food for over 800 homeless people. We provide ham, turkey, dressing, mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, rolls, cranberry sauce, giblet gravy, pies, coffee and tea. Over 75 hams and turkeys are smoked and the rest is prepared in the ARC kitchen and delivered to the shelter on Thursday morning. The grocery items are purchased at cost from local grocers and desserts (fried pies) have been donated by the Miller family the past 2 years. It takes many St. Matthew servants to provide this blessing. Last year over 75 turkeys and hams were donated. Over 40 servants prepared the food over 2 full days. More than 55 servants traveled to the shelter Thanksgiving afternoon to serve the meal. The PNS clients were seated and served at the decorated tables. They normally go through a food line, but we wanted it to be special and serve them. Many take this opportunity to serve as a family. The children assist with drinks and dessert. The shelter clients are very appreciative and we received many "Thank you" and "God bless you" comments. Other clients reminisced about their family Thanksgivings. We are able to bless them with a wonderful meal and christian fellowship. Please sign up to donate or serve in whatever capacity you can. It is a very rewarding opportunity. http://www.stmattcpc.org/outreach/

"When I think of this opportunity I see several things happening...I see our church finding an opportunity to internally connect. I see new leaders being born. I see a "family" in the kitchen cooking a meal for those that they love. I think most would be amazed at the volume of activity it takes beginning in September to share Thanksgiving with our friends at the Presbyterian Night Shelter. I see multiple denominations and churches from Burleson and the surrounding area come together as God's church to fulfill His mission. I see those we serve become people again, right before our very eyes. To watch them enjoy a meal that was prepared, just as He prepares a table for us, just for them. To look into their eyes and see a distant memory come alive. To see a family from St. Matthew changed, because their yes became "Yes". " - Roxanne Ancy

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, Christian housing organization, building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need. No training necessary!
We are blessed with a roof over our heads, so let's bless someone by helping build one over theirs! This is a great way to see a direct and immediate impact for your service, and it's a perfect example of being the hands and feet of Christ.
The project is Saturday, December 8 from 8 am - 3 pm in Grandview, TX. This opportunity is open for anyone over the age of 16. Bring your favorite pair of gloves and join us in making this house a success!

Holiday Friends December 15, 2012

Our annual Holiday Friends event is coming soon and being held right here at our church AGAIN! December 15, 2012 to be exact.
Every year St. Matthew joins together with Harvest House and many other local organizations and churches in our community to help aid families who cannot afford Christmas that year.
We all work together to help by providing a hot meal, Christmas shopping for the parents so they can provide small gifts to their children, spending time with children showing them the love and grace of Jesus Christ, and by putting holiday cheer into each of the children's and families lives that show up at the event.
You can help by purchasing items for children off of the angel trees and by volunteering your time on December 15.
We need you all to make this event a success!
