 Fall 2013

From the President

Charles Ezigbo, CHRVA President

Well, it's that time of year where the trees start to shed, summer vacations are but a memory, and school busses add even more chaos to the morning commuting madness. All of this can only mean one thing - it's time for indoor club volleyball! As many of us transition our thoughts to scheduling our fall and winter activities, we hope that playing, coaching, officiating, or otherwise just being involved in some capacity in CHRVA/USAV programs are in your plans. Hopefully you will spend the time to read through this newsletter to see what may have changed in any of the regional programs.

Juniors News
Dado Singer, Junior Girls Director

The outdoor program grew in both size and scope this year including the development of a regional HP juniors beach team and adding a beach program to the existing juniors outdoor grass program.

Turning our attention indoors, please note that tryouts are starting a month earlier this year for boys and were slated to begin as early as September 15. Also, a big change is coming to Junior Girls Regional Championships this year.

CHRVA Embarks on Strategic Planning
Julie Briggs, Strategic Planning Chair

As Charles mentioned in his president's article, during the summer, a combination of Board members and staff met to discuss the future of CHRVA. We brought in a consultant, who helped us focus and put us through exercises in order to come up with a three-year plan. This plan focuses on three areas: governance; membership and recruitment; and technology.

One of the membership goals is to engage more of the membership in what we do. We are looking for members who would like to participate in discussions, projects, or even to act as testers or readers.
