STEM Fuse is announcing "GAME:IT 10,000 A STEM Initiative"
| |
Today STEM Fuse, LLC, announces GAME:IT 10,000 - A STEM Initiative. The U.S. is facing a severe shortage of skilled workers in areas related to science, technology, engineering and math (commonly referred to as STEM). In an effort to solve this shortage and keep the U.S. globally competitive, an increasing emphasis has been placed on improving and promoting K-16 STEM education. Study and research have suggested that game design and development is a powerful tool in STEM education. STEM Fuse is serious about helping solve the U.S. STEM problem. We understand the difficulty many schools have in finding technology courses that attract students, are easy to teach, and hit state standards. Our GAME:IT course is the perfect solution to these problems and we want to offer it to the first 10,000 U.S. high schools who wish to participate in this initiative - at absolutely no cost and without any usage restrictions.
Through GAME:IT 10,000 - A STEM Initiative, high schools all across the U.S. will now be able to offer GAME:IT, a full semester-long game development course that teaches all facets of STEM. GAME:IT includes everything needed for a school to implement. It was designed assuming no previous programming experience by the teacher or the student and is currently being taught in 47 states. GAME:IT is aligned with all applicable state and national technology and STEM education standards.
The first 10,000 high schools that wish to participate will be able to save tens of thousands of dollars in text book and curriculum costs while offering a proven, ready-to-teach, standards aligned STEM course that will engage students with project-based learning. Students will learn valuable technical skills and concepts that are in high demand and translate into virtually any industry. Technical support, teacher training and professional development are a part of this initiative and will be provided to all participating schools at no cost.
GAME:IT 10,000 - A STEM Initiative is being offered to any U.S. high school. For more information about this initiative, visit http://stemfuse.com/shop/gameit-10000-initiative.

At the NJTEEA Annual Conference, Keynote Speaker, Dr. Steve O'Brien talked about the need to recruit more students in to T&E teaching. As a way to help in this area, TCNJ is offering a Pre-Engineering Teacher Academy for High School Students. The Academy is ~1 week long and is residential (students stay in TCNJ dormitory rooms). Activities cover Technology and Engineering design activities, as well as how to teach these activities.

Announcing the Teach GREEN Program in Costa Rica
| |
A 5-day program focused is on training the educators of our world how to teach renewable energy and sustainability. Continue Reading to be one of 20 Educators that secure their reservations for this program.
By bringing you to a country committed to reaching carbon neutrality, you are able to gain access into exclusive renewable energy facilities and participate in sustainability initiatives that will give you a global perspective by which to teach these topics.
Not to mention, you will collaborate with other educators from around the world to find the best methods by which to apply your education from the GREEN Program and of course, extend your network.
Why you need to participate: Aside from the education, adventure, culture, and networking opportunities in Costa Rica - we will teach you how to design and install a rainwater collection system in a local community. We will bring you to an Off-the-Grid Residential Home to meet the owners who built it from the ground up. We will give you a new framework to make your own decisions about sustainability and renewable energy as influential topics of our time.
Sounds great, right? It is! But you're probably wondering how much this program is going to cost.
We are offering an all-inclusive rate of $2150 since this is a new program. By all-inclusive I mean all of your meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, adventure, and education is included. The only additional cost for you is your flight, which varies depending where you are flying from, and the government exit tax of $28. In the past, faculty have been able to have their institutions financially support this opportunity.
Get the full details of what is included in the Teach GREEN Program in the attached packet. Other faculty testimonials are included too!
Then, Register Online to participate in our June 24th- June 28th, 2013 Program. You will receive an email from me with further travel instructions. If you can't make it to those dates, register anyway so we can tell you when we release new Teach GREEN Program dates first.
