Tech Ed Supervisor Google Group

Ron Durso, the Science & Tech Ed Supervisor in Fair Lawn, and a member of NJTEEA, has developed a Google Group for Tech Ed supervisors and administrators.  The group communicates via e-mail to share ideas and problem solve topics of concern for Tech Ed teachers.  The group includes a contact list of NJ Tech Ed supervisors and Ron is currently asking the group to create a list of what teacher evaluation tools are used around the district so schools can work together to create student learning objectives.

If you are a Tech Ed supervisor and you would like to join, or if you would like your supervisor to join, please send an e-mail to [email protected] from the e-mail address you would like added to the group.  With a Google Group, you can control how many e-mails you get a day (each e-mail sent, 1 summary e-mail per day, 1 summary e-mail per week, etc), and the group stores the e-mails by topic so you can go back and reference them.  No more annoying "reply-all"!

Manufacturing NJ Facebook Group

Please consider posting ideas, and having your students engage with this new site and post their projects and activities as well.

You Can't Spell 'Cool' Without Code
YA CAN'T SPELL 'COOL' WITHOUT CODE: It starts with, oh, say, learning to code a green circle. Or a tic-tac-toe game. Code.org, a nonprofit that wants to see many more kids learning to code, is ramping up its campaign to draw students into coding with a slick video coming out today. Sure, you knew that Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates code. But how about NBA All-Star Chris Bosh or Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas? (Okay, so Will.i.am is still taking those coding classes.) "The programmers of tomorrow are the wizards of the future. You're going to look like you have magic powers compared to everyone else," says Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve. Yep, programming is getting cool, kids. And if that isn't enough, the experts are predicting that a million jobs will be unfilled if more kids don't learn to code.

NJTEEA Representation at the NJEA Convention

NJTEEA wants you and your ideas to be represented at this year's NJEA Convention in Atlantic City.  NJTEEA wants to have a workshop/presentation to be given at the NJEA Convention that is sponsored by the association and is representative of Technology Education and STEM.

We are soliciting ideas and workshop proposals for what you want to see.  We will review the workshop/presentation ideas and reach out to you if your idea was chosen.  We will then help you go through the NJEA workshop proposal process.  If your workshop is accepted by NJEA, the presenter is given a room for one night at an Atlantic City hotel.

Please complete the proposal by clicking on this link.
