boot camp photo
Greetings!

Please find below information regarding registration information for our College Admissions Portfolio workshop, the NJTEEA Annual Conference, NJTEEA Awards and Grants, Executive Board Nominations, an opportunity to present at the NJEA Convention representing NJTEEA, as well as information about Stevens Institute of Technology's ITEEA Waterbotics program.
College Admissions Portfolio Workshop

Presenter: Former ITE Award Winner and High School Excellence Award Winner, Lisa Sokol (Technology Education Teacher)

Location: South Brunswick High School

Date: February 28, 2013

Time: 4-6pm

This workshop will focus on college admission portfolios for Technology Education students.  What are colleges looking for?  What else would be helpful to include? Acceptance into a university's architecture school is highly competitive, and often a portfolio is required.  Therefore, along with teaching students the basic fundamentals of architecture, which include drawn floor plans and building models, other activities that support a portfolio should be an integral part of the curriculum.

This workshop will answer the questions above and explore inspirational assignments for the creation of an architectural portfolio. Come for a "show & tell" sharing activities that students complete that are appropriate for a college admissions portfolio and the sharing of various design briefs.

NJTEEA Representation at the NJEA Convention

NJTEEA wants you and your ideas to be represented at this year's NJEA Convention in Atlantic City.  NJTEEA wants to have a workshop/presentation to be given at the NJEA Convention that is sponsored by the association and is representative of Technology Education and STEM.

We are soliciting ideas and workshop proposals for what you want to see.  We will review the workshop/presentation ideas and reach out to you if your idea was chosen.  We will then help you go through the NJEA workshop proposal process.  If your workshop is accepted by NJEA, the presenter is given a room for one night at an Atlantic City hotel.

Please complete the proposal by clicking on this link.

Water Botics Training Opportunity at ITEEA Conference

Stevens Institute of Technology is offering ITEEA members the opportunity to participate in a hybrid training course during 2013 for WaterBotics, a problem-based curriculum in which teams of students design, build, test, and redesign underwater robots made of LEGOs and other components. The course will kick off with a full-day pre-conference workshop at the 2013 ITEEA Conference in Columbus, OH, followed by four online modules, 2-3 hours each, offered in the spring and again in the summer, 2013. The total value of this opportunity including the training course, follow-up support, online materials, conference registration and stipend is estimated at over $2,000. Middle and high school teachers are encouraged to apply with preference given to 2-member teams of teachers from the same school or district. Please see  www.waterbotics.org/iteea for more information and an application. The application submission deadline has been extended, and acceptance decisions will be made on a rolling basis until the course is full.
