If so, plan to attend NJTEEA's Innovative Technology Educator (ITE) Workshop #3. In this ITE workshop, participants will design a windmill blade and outsource it. They will then, in turn, build a set of windmill blades that were designed by a participant in another room. We will use Skype to facilitate communication between people in both rooms. Materials and dinner will be provided.

ITEEA Meets With Members of the Chinese Delegation
| |
RESTON, Virginia, December 7, 2012 - Representatives from the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) recently met with a delegation of individuals representing entities within the People's Republic of China in order to discuss potential collaborative opportunities. An earlier meeting took place in China.
While ITEEA's publication, Standards for Technological Literacy: Content for the Study of Technology has already been translated into Chinese, there is a potential need to pursue translation of Advancing Excellence in Technological Literacy as well as the accompanying publications that delve into topics such as professional development and assessment pertaining to standards implementation.
China is currently moving to make technology education a required component of its educational process, which may create numerous education, professional development, and curriculum development opportunities.
According to ITEEA Executive Director Kendall Starkweather, "This is just one of many international relationships that ITEEA has developed over the years. The long-term intent of these efforts is to share and gain information about what is working for teachers of technology and engineering education."
Representing ITEEA were Executive Director, Kendall Starkweather, DTE; Communications Director, Katie de la Paz; and ITEEA member Steve Macho of Buffalo State University. The Chinese delegation was comprised of: Xu Changfa,Vice-President, National Institute of Education; Suo Guangyi, Vice-President, National Institute of Education Sciences and Sciences and President, Educational Science Publishing House; Wang Su, Director, Research Center for International Comparative Education, National Institute of Education Sciences; Zhang Jingpei, Deputy Director, Office of General Affairs, National Institute of Education Sciences; Zheng Qingxian, Deputy Director, Office of General Affairs, National Institute of Educational Sciences; and Wang Xin, Senior Specialist, Research Center for Curriculum & Pedagogy, National Institute of Education Sciences.
