FEATURED BLOG ARTICLE Why Lean Times Are Good Times
A while back I wrote a blog titled 'Challenge or Opportunity'. I was attempting to point out that most of the situations you encounter are labeled the way they are because of the way you interpret them. You always have a choice as to how you are going to view a situation and what influence that situation is going to have on your thoughts and behavior. Thus, when you face a challenge you have a choice: you can either see it as a challenge or an opportunity. And this holds equally true in a company, as it does on a team, or in your personal life. The truth of the matter is that every challenge holds an opportunity, but most people stop at the challenge part and just live there. There is never more opportunity than when a whole host of people are talking about what can't be done, what won't happen, how bad things are, and generally spouting negativity about possibility. And never does that occur more than in so-called "lean times". CLICK HERE TO READ THE REST |
The C.L.i.P.SM - Culture & Leadership in Practice
What is Culture, Exactly?
Because culture is not a term thrown around every day, I want to take a moment to talk about what culture is. Culture is what happens outside of the policies and procedures manual. It is "how things are done around here"; the collective behavior of the people in any environment. Culture sets the tone for how people feel about their work environment. A company can have a healthy culture, one that leads the company to success, or an unhealthy culture. An unhealthy culture can lead your company to it's death.
Culture also impacts whether or not your company is able to achieve the results it desires. And culture impacts whether or not you are able to hire, and even more importantly, retain the talent necessary to achieve your desired results.
Wondering about your culture? Ask yourself these questions: 1) Is your culture in alignment with the company's espoused values? 2) Is your culture in alignment with your hiring and overall business strategies? 3) Is your culture one that inspires civility, loyalty, a commitment to high-quality work, and an enjoyable work environment?
Company struggling? Culture is key. Let me show you how to transform your culture.
