I'm a Garbage Woman
 I am often asked what I do. What is my business? And I have struggled to answer this question because I have often thought that what I actually do and what people are able to comprehend in short snippets, without experiencing it, are two very different things. Thus, how do I explain it accurately? So I tell people I offer training and development solutions in the areas of leadership, team effectiveness, and communication. They smile and nod politely. And I know at that moment I have just succeeded, yet again, in doing absolutely nothing to enlighten them. Language is so important, yet speaking a language that will accurately convey to people what I do has eluded me for years. Leadership, team, and communication language is everywhere. So when I mention those words people think I teach people the strategies necessary in order to become better leaders, team members or leaders, and communicators within their company, and that's the extent of it. And that is not really what I do. Teaching the strategies the easy part, and a very small part of what I do. Clearing away all the crap that prevents people and companies from actually applying the strategies is the real work I do. So what does that make me? I'm a garbage woman. A "Short" Tale of Reinvention...
It is with much joy, excitement, and whatever other positive emotion I can muster that I announce that the new Coach Kathy Wilson site is up! I also want to share a lesson I learned through this whole reinvention process.
It takes time. I think I have been reinventing for the past three years, tweaking the content, my services, the tagline of my business, and even what I call myself, over and over again. I kept envisioning the moment when I would get "there", when it would all be done and I could "move on" with my business. But guess what? There is no "there". Creating your business, like creating your life is an on-going journey. Thus, if your considering some type of reinvention, the best gift you can give yourself is to strap on your seat belt and get going. And be prepared to keep tweaking.
