A total of 413,000 people living in rural areas of Peru moved out of poverty thanks to the government's greater social investment of S/. 4 billion (about US$1.2 billion), Peru's Primer Minister Pedro Cateriano announced.

After starting 2015 with two relatively weak months, the Peruvian economy grew 2.7 percent in the last month of the quarter to take Q1 GDP growth to 1.7 percent. The agricultural sector grew 0.4 percent during the quarter, while the mining sector (14.4 percent of the economy) posted a 4.1 percent growth rate. Public utilities contributed with a 4.7 percent rate. Although this reports highlights the production or supply side of the economy it is clear that consumer demand was relatively strong during Q1. Commerce, which represents 10.2 percent of the economy, grew 3.6 percent during Q1.

The financing provided by the banking system dynamized last April after having expanded by 9.9% in the said month (in annualized terms).
The increase was placed above the expansion registered in the two previous months, Peru's Banking Association (Asbanc) announced.

Peru is on the way to close most of the infrastructure gap with a US$113 billion portfolio of projects financed jointly by the central government and regional and local governments, in partnership with the private sector.

The Finance Ministry has authorized budget allocations transfer worth S/.322,632,589 (about US$103.07 million), which will enable to develop four public sanitation infrastructure projects.
